Cherokee noise when braking

The '01 Cherokee. Noise coming from the right rear. Happens when braking with a pretty heavy foot. Light braking doesn't always produce the sound. Faster I'm going, the more noise it produces. It's somewhere between a click and a clunk. Perhaps a thump is the best way to describe it. (Highly scientific I know.) Seems the noise is made with each rotation of the wheel. Any thoughts on what it is?

109K on Jeep. As far as I know, still factory brakes all the way around...at least for the next few weeks anyway.

Loose wheel? Shoe spring out of the slot? So many things it could be so pull the wheel.

If it's cyclical ..then pulling the drum is about all you can do.

The reason light braking doesn't produce the sound (probably) is due to the proportioning valve.

There was a TSB out on this clunking noise while braking.It stems from the centering hole, on the brake drum, being slightly too large.Go to Jeepsunlimited or NAXJA to get more info.
