For years most steak places have charged for the additions. Usually the base price is a steak with cheese, maybe onions in it. Everything else is more.

Consider yourself lucky. I can't get a decent cheese steak around here no matter the price.
Well Pete
Since you opined...............
I have not had a great cs. around these parts since the late 80's
Everybody is making the same chopped up slop.
Subs are ok but the cs is a lost art.

I got a Big Mac, fries, and a drink for $13 when I was on a road trip in August. You got a much better deal than I did.
Wow........ here often you can get two for $6 and then the other stuff..

I just remembered Capriotti's opened here not too long ago. I'm going to have to try their cheese steak at some point. The 8" is $9.49 and includes onions and mushrooms. Looks like you can also add peppers for no extra charge.

They also have American Wagyu cheese steak which is $11.29.

We do have them in Delaware too.
Let us know if they are any good..
You can get great cold subs here but it seems all the CS are the same brew.
Subs here are about $9

Fortunate to have a small mom and pops pizza joint here that serves a great steak and cheese. 9 bucks for a large ‘deluxe’.

With meat prices where they are now I think anything around the $10 point is pretty reasonable. When I make them myself I thin slice ribeye steak. I have really been liking flat iron steak. As long as you don't overcook it can be really good and I think I may try it for a CS soon.

I am an expert at eating Cheesesteaks. Richmond, VA is a great cheesesteak desert. The best ones here are at Wawa.....seriously.

However a girl at my work swears about a local restaurant that I have yet to try.

Anyways, back to my Peanut Butter and Jelly.

Had a great cheese steak sandwich last time ~'75. Was in Philly I believe. Maybe $1.50.

That's why you go to places like Steve's Prince of Steaks. They fry slices of ribeye and don't chop it up into sawdust

We have a family owned deli down here that has excellent cheese steaks and cheesecake lol. If I remember it’s about $13-$15 for theirs but it’s big and good it has cheese, meat, onions and mushrooms on it. The other places around here that have them are ehh at best. And the family owned deli only takes cash so make sure you bring cash to enjoy the cheesesteak with lol.

We got a few places that make good cheese steak sandwiches. Expect to pay upwards of $15. Skip Jersey Joe's. They use horrible synthetic cheese. I want Gruyère or Jack.

Cheese Wiz is the best "cheese" for cheesesteaks. There is a reason why since the invention of Cheese Wiz, Philadelphia basically fell in love with it.

Haven't had a good cheese steak since I stopped traveling for work and no longer went to Philadelphia. Been craving one from Dalessandro's for a while now. They're the real deal compared to the places you see on Food TV. Also a close second IMO is Big Joe's Sandwich shop over in Tinicum township (South Philly). It's definitely a hole in the wall, but I frequented that place in my travels. For a chain type place, Debella's also has great subs. Think the nearest place is Robinson Township, Pittsburgh and the next Rochester. Crap, now I'm hungry...
