This is the aluminum oil drain plug crush washer from my new-to-me RAV4. The dealer claimed to have done an oil change before selling it and I believe they did. Apparently they used an impact wrench to put the plug back it because I’ve been these crush washers for years and have never seen one this badly deformed. I suppose I should be thankful there are any threads left in the oil pan.

Just another data point in favor of doing your own maintenance whenever possible.

Maybe it's just seen about 15 OCIs and they keep putting a little more ugga dugga on each time.

I've been using two Valvoline shops during the last year, one in Long Island and one in Connecticut, and every time I was in either of them I got treated to the clicks of the torque wrench under the car. Should I buy a lottery ticket?

Best save your good luck for subsequent oil changes.

Same as our Tundra I just bought from an Acura dealer. They changed the oil and I had to use my impact to remove the plastic filter housing, twisting my socket and cracking the plastic in the process. Slowly loading with a cheater wasn't getting it done so I had little choice but to "snap" it loose.

Even dealers hire mouth breathers for LOF techs.
