Good thing this is made in the USA! We don't want any of that offshore junk -- even Jalopnik says so ;)

If the pleats become clogged and the bypass valve fails, this is the failsafe - it's just double redundancy

I'm so glad we're not embarrassing ourselves with our US production efforts.

Mileage: unk
Oil used: no idea
Vehicle: don't remember (probably good or I'd worry)

I don’t understand the personal connection in embarrassment at all. FM doesn’t make these anymore, most were very nicely made. They were at Pep Boys. Just didn’t take hold in the market against Fram.
I could be embarrassed for what I do myself, like buy an oil filter made in PRC or Vietnam for $10 when I can get something made in USA that works just fine. Not that embarrassed, just try to look at the big picture not what’s in it for me alone.

I will take quality over patriotism when it comes to my oil filters.
One filter pic of a discontinued oil filter brand paints all USA manufacturing with one brush. Here’s another pic with raves. So now what.

Do I ignore my lying eyes in the handful of USA made filters I have cut open with blown pleats vs. none of the Asian ones I have opened? I do not open every filter I have taken off the but just with that small sampling, the running average of a USA made filter being defective is higher than I care to give my business to.

Not to say I will never use a USA made filter going forward, farthest from the truth but I am more astute in what I buy and looking for and do not let just blind patriotism steer my decision making when my loyalty of such things has been tested with crap product by said USA manufacture brands and companies. They need to earn my business by producing quality on a larger running average and not take it for granted I am going to buy it just because it is made in the USA.

It looks awful. As bad as terrible. Btw nothing from me was politics. I think people should be granted the luxury of knowing what they themselves mean. But people are free to not extend that luxury, but believe they know what a stranger thinks, it’s a free country.
That has businesses making oil fitters.
