Vanishing Point?

I just rented both the old version and the new version and I'm totally hooked on the Dodge challenger. How much am I expected to pay for a 1971 Challenger with a Hemi? I want one now.

I owned a 70 Challenger purchased used in 1971 with a 340 4 sp headers, manifold, turned 6400 rpm it was a fun car but in hindsight there is no substitute for cubic inches.

Why not look at the new edition of the Dodge Challenger? It comes with a 6.1 L Hemi and has improved braking and handling compared to the original. Also compared to the auction prices, a real bargain! For a look at a original 71 Challenger with a 440 cu in engine, watch the movie -Grindhouse presents: Death Proof with Kirk Russell. A Quintin Tarantino production.

Challengers that came from the factory with the Hemi are indeed several hundred thousand dollars.

One with a Hemi swap that is otherwise undetectable as being un-original is still better than a hundred grand.

The best bet is to find your Challenger and do a Hemi swap. Dodge will sell you a crate Hemi for somewhere around ten grand.

That's a great idea.

I used to hate American cars. Now I love them. I went to a local car show and they had modified F-250 Diesels, new mustangs, some dude had a supercharged Colbat, awesome Dodge charger. It was awesome. My friend let me rent the movie "Vanishing Point" and I almost had a sexual feeling; the Challenger was so dang hot. Just listening to the engine was good enough. American cars are doing awesome now :) My next car will be American.

Do some research on a 69 Z28 Camaro .

Are you serious???? I gotta watch it again and pause the frame.

In the movie Grindhouse presents: Death Proof, the car is a '70 Dodge Challenger with the 440 engine, not as rare or as exotic as the Hemi, but very powerful none the less. The story line really plays up the Challenger mystic and mentions Vanishing Point and Dirty Mary , Crazy Larry movies. They then proceed to dent every body panel on the car while running it ragged on a test drive. I always cringe when they take a beautiful car like that and destroy it, esp. when it starts out in showroom condition.
