My new Nissan engine, QR25DE calls for an API SL Energy Conserving 5-30 oil. I now have 2000 miles or 3000Kms on new engine.
I ran factory oil for 400miles or 700kms. Changed filter and XD3 conventional 5w30 CF/SH oil (by mistake, thought it was SL) I then drained this oil at 1200miles or 2000KMs and added another change of XD3 5w30 conventional. I will run this oil to 5K Kms or 3K miles. My manual accepts CD/SH or API SH luckily but prefers SL.
( this 5w30 conventional XD3 is CF according to lable, CG-4 according to spec sheet) Will a CF/SH oil be close to API SL? Basically is the CF/ diesel rating more detergent or is there lubricating add pack also to take up some slack on my lower gas SH rating?
I will use 0-30 Syn XD3 100% POA Group 1V oil at end of breakin after this XD3 conventional 5w30. This XD3 syn oil is CH-I/SL.
5K kms or 3K miles good point for syn oil on new engine, will the lower SH gas oil rating help seat these stubborn NIssan engines?
