Certified Oil Filter - Canadian Tire

New to the forum. As a result of the Fram shortage, I've been looking for alternatives and bought some Certified Oil Filters from the local Canadian Tire.

The part number (CPH7317 and CPH4967) suggests they are Frams with Ecores. The box claims silicone valve although the graphic shows a metal core. Service life of only 5,000 miles. For US$4.39, does it look decent?

Appears decent. Has the E-core. What are the specs? 98% of what micron?

These are generally Fram's Defense line sold under Canadian Tires label. They are fine to use for regular intervals, have had some with paint peeling issues but usually not E core ones like this. Not sure who the new supplier will be I suspect PGI.

The date code shows they were made by Champion Labs, now out of business ... ie, under First Brands. The part number isn't the give away, as many off brand filters have used a Fram style filter numbering system.

Just buy a dealer/oem filter and worry about other things.

Honda’s blue can is Fram and Toyota’s filter doesn’t seem anything special. Prefer not paying double, driving further, or waiting for the parts guy if I have an alternative.
