I think it looks pretty nice, but really expensive for what it is. It's kind of surprising to me that at $36,000 it doesn't even have tinted glass. I guess that's an extra cost option.

I'd rather have an AWD 3 series station wagon and stop pretending that little thing is a truck or SUV or whatever they call it. Lower it right down to where it should be, ie 3 series ride height, and enjoy better handling and better fuel economy.

I don't understand why the American car buying public hates station wagons.

EXACTLY! I'd take a sexy little wagon. Can't stand the whole SUV segment. Poor handling, lesser fuel economy, etc.

Both are good choices.

Nevermind. I thought you were making a bit of a joke about him getting behind the wheel of ANOTHER car for pretty much the same money as he's into on the Mazda right now (IE, playing on his "musical vehicles" problem that he seems to have as of late).

I hope this is a joke

People 50-plus will associate with the the car their parents drove and avoid them.

yes, artificialist, it is a joke; what is no joke is that i saw an X1 out on the streets of the city today, a 2.0L turbo 4cyl; it was purchased from a bmw dealership; it looked great-quite different from an X3; it was a midnight blue metallic; i talked to the driver; he bought it for his wife; he liked the way it performed and the way it handled; his normal drive is a mini.

Neighbor is looking at these, put equipment in it and it bloats over 40K in a hurry, plus the snob dealer is placing "Demand" charges on it marking it up even higher lOL

To me as already noted, looks like a Suabru Outback, husband commented to that affect to his wife who wants one and she didnt appreciate the comment.

Lets hope so.
I love fast wagons with manual trans. Best combo out there for overall fun and utility. Can't beat it.

not "flexible" on this; must be a true country squire; hope the termites don't get to your new ride, JOD; the modern vehicle depicted here is not square enough for my traditional tastes; it looks like an aztek.

Agreed. CTS-V even comes with a stick!

But seriously, I despise the trends in SUV's. I am sure there must be some reason for those who purchase them, but I could get everything I needed into my SW when I had 3 kids.
