Castrol vs Valvoline

Aramco is the Saudia Arabia Royal Family. The Valvoline oil change stations are separate, still USA owned. Valvoline still has offices and a refinery in Kentucky amongst other places, but they are now owned by Saudia Arabia, including their offices and refineries in the United States.
 
Aramco owning Valvoline provides them with amazing resources they didn’t have before. R&P is an example of those resources. Additives are being developed in labs and universities in Mumbai per Valvolines LSJR vid. They are also adding more GTL to some products.

I’ll tell you that Castrol Edge EP carries some impressive approvals and I look forward to some here using it.

You ignored all of the primary sources others posted here and instead did a half a second Google search, and I'm sure ignored all of the links below it which would have pointed you in the right direction, to instead focus on the AI summary, which we know are not very accurate. You continue to ignore the links posted here, including from Valvoline's own website, to focus on the label on a bottle of oil you're holding??

Foreign companies can have American assets. It's not saying anything bad about the good people who live in the US and work for Valvoline. Just like there are a lot of Americans who work for Toyota and build Toyota cars and work in Toyota dealerships here in the states. I'm sure they're good people and do good work. Who knows, they may have even gotten raises and better benefits when Aramco bought them. Aramco has more money than you and I can wrap our heads around. Valvoline is just a wholly-owned, American-run and -operated subsidiary of a Saudi company. I hope that sinks in.
We have TWO Toyota plants where I live. One was their V8 production facility and the other is in partnership with Kia I believe. They employ a LOT of folks here and they are treated well from what I’ve been told.

Are those the ACEA and MB 229.71 (0W-20) you're referring to? Your comment prompted me to Google it. Thanks for calling my attention to it. Was not aware this "non-Euro" oil had Euro approvals.

I'm curious how much more stringent 229.51 or .52 is over ACEA A5/B5, C2.

Is Edge EP a non Euro oil? I thought it was a Euro oil. Maybe I just thought that because it's Euro approved. Either way, same end result isn't it?

Edge EP & Valvoline EP are both very good oils, IMO. Valvoline has slightly higher cSt per grade, if that matters to you. Otherwise I suggest whichever costs less because you won't go wrong with either.

If you want more tech data, I suggest comparing their data sheets (download from their websites) and compare VOAs & UOAs which you can find at BITOG.
 
All right so I looked into this a bit, and I'm not really seeing any benefit of Castrol Edge EP over a quality, OTS Euro synthetic like M1 ESP. More approvals and higher HTHS. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not seeing the draw.
 
I tried Castrol in my truck a few yrs back and, it used a quart between oil changes. I then went to
Valvoline and the oil consumption stopped. Don't have any clue why but, it did.
However, back in the 1970s when I got my first vehicle, and the next few vehicles afterward, I used
Castrol with no problems whatsoever. I'm not sure why it didn't work well in my newest truck and
Valvoline did. Back then though, all I was using was conventional oil, (Havoline), and both were synthetic
when I tried them in my newer truck.
I do now use the Havoline, again, in my truck. The Pro DS 5W20 and the truck doesn't use any between oil changes.
It stumps me although, I am by no means an oil expert.

My Accord burns significantly more Castrol Edge HM than Mobil 1 EP HM, both in 5W-30. It also burned a lot more GTX HM 5W-30 than Pennzoil blend HM 5W-30.
