Castrol TransMax or Valvoline Maxlife ATF

I use the Transmax MV Synthetic - but would not do so starting from ground zero - it is getting hard to find for me.
(I have enough for two pan drains only with B&M plug)
Yes they call the Dex-VI a semi - but in that spec they are all quality base stocks -

Walmarts no longer carry/stock the Valvoline ATF.

Many people believe it's best not to do too many drain/refills one after the other or else you risk the 'fresh' detergents in the ATF flushing or dislodging stuff that's best just left stuck where it is. If you do want to replace most of the ATF, spread out the changes - maybe with a couple thousand miles in between.

Unless a transmission in broken (hard parts) there just isn't that much debris to capture. If one is finding anything other than a very fine paste on a magnet or filter or anywhere else at a fluid change, a fluid change wont help. My high mile trans has only had drain and fills, with one filter change somewhere around 150K miles. If a 99% swap is desired, I'd consider doing a flush. Youtube has plenty of vids showing how. Maybe I'll do that if this trans goes 400K..

Update: I did the drain and fill and installed a wix filter on the Buick trans. The fluid was dark of course with a slight hint of red still. The old reusable gasket was still intact and surprisingly in good shape so I reused it. I also bought two packs of rare earth magnets and put three of them in the pan. The pan did have a thick coating of silver sediment setting on the belly of the pan. After all was said and done, approximately 8 quarts of ? Fluid came out and 8 quarts of Valvoline dexmerc went back in with wix filter. About 200 miles have bent put on the trans with no leaks or shifting issues so far.
