Castrol Syntec?

I used GTX for a couple years exclusively and was very happy with it. I would use Syntec as well but it is a bit expensive here. I would think it will serve you well.

Ive used Castrol Syntec 0w-30(German Castrol, Made in Germany), and i swear the 08 GMC Canyon 3.7Liter 5 Cylinders dual overhead cams sounded quieter. Other people have said their cars engines sounded quieter also.

I used 5w30 Syntec for the first time on my '05 Infiniti G35 a month ago. I must say that my G35 responded fantastic! It feels more responsive and this is during high heat ambient (105+) temps here in AZ. I used Q Horsepower Full Synthetic from the first oil change, but the engine really likes this Syntec with Edge way better!

My son's '08 VW GTI turbo runs Syntec and now my G35 feels as responsive has his GTI! I am now thinking about trying Syntec in the wife's Acura TL because of what I felt with my G35. The TL now runs Quaker State conventional 5W-20.

Castrol (BP) makes good oils, and Syntec is no exception.

Some really, really good used oil analysis on here have been with Syntec.

Well said!

No more Edge gold bottles?

If so, I think that is a very very smart move by Castrol as they are even making a reasonable attempt to drop the three-letter acronyms (LST, FST, whatever it was,) and making it "Edge, formerly Syntec" -- effectively, dropping Syntec.

Do I have this new Castrol naming/coloring scheme (only black bottles for Edge, still green or white for GTX) right?

Syntec is one of the best off the shelf oils imo from looking at UOA`s,VOA`s,and from using it. UOA`s are always excellent and VOA`s show it to have one of the highest TBN`s.

As to the GRP III thing, all off the shelf synths are GRP III`s.
