Castrol Mercon V + Lubegard Red = overkill?

My 01 Nissan Sentra SE is getting its 3rd ATF drain & fill at about 115K miles. In the past I've used the run-of-the-mill Dexron III ATFs along with a bottle of Lubegard red. This time around I'm stepping it up with some Castrol Mercon V. Would it be a waste to use some Lubegard with it?

When you step up to a better fluid, you don't need protectants. Save your money for better fluids and shorter maintenance intervals.
