Changing my oil tonight when I get home from work...picked up 4 quarts of each last night at Advance for 1.95 per quart.

Noticed when I got home that the Start-Up was SL and GF3 rated...Durablend SM, CF etc...both 5W30...I put miles on my Matrix fairly quickly...almost at 47K.

Current fill is Pennzoil Plat....
Any harm in using the GF-3 Start-Up in a 2005?

More importantly which one would you guys rather seea used oil analysis on?

Start up is history by the time you do your UOA . I'd rather see durablend and it seems a better choice for your winter.

May I ask why you are going away from the PP? Cost?

None at all. The L-O-N-G term use of motor oils with higher treat rates of ZDDP (common in SL oils) might impact catalytic converter life - but that component's the automaker's responsibility for 8/80 under the federal emissions warranty, anyway.

I know you didn't buy it..but with a toyota engine. mobil 1 + toyota is a match made in heaven

Thanks guys...no not cost...in fact I still have about 6 quarts left of PP and I made 4 dollars on that deal after rebates etc

I have a stash of oils...from Havoline, Pennzoil to Kendall to Valvoline etc...I just happened to see this stuff marked down at AA and got some....fwiw the Mobil 7500 was marked down also to 1.95 per qt.

I've used PP off and on and each time I swear my engine sounds more like a diesel each time I use it

Could just be a placebo effect also..

I've run Mobil 1 before but find it hard to justify spending over 5 bucks for a quart of oil...If i can find it on clearance etc then yes..I'll give it another whirl
