Castrol updated their website. Looks like they updated a lot of their info. The biggest things I was was CEXP is now 20K miles rated, and claims 6 times wear protection required by API SN Plus and 10 times stronger than high temperature thickening than required by API SN Plus. I just wish they would post their PDS specs for Edge and EXP with the new specs and claims and hopefully better pour points.

Last night I was at Walmart and saw a 5 gallon jug that said 20K miles, I don't remember seeing that before. I believe it was $30.

Hmmm did you mean 5 quart? I've never seen a 5 Gallon Jug of Castrol in my Walmart but it may be available in some stores.

I have no doubt under the right circumstances in the right engine it could do it.
I suppose mostly they are just matching what M1 is claiming

Sorry didn't have my coffee yet, yes I meant 5 quarts.

LOL all of us have those problems including myself.

Ditto! Probably fine for some of them but it's an ever decreasing field of players I fear. No way I'd ever do that with anything DI with all the valve crusting issues those have. If you did that either my 13 Hyundai it would be nothing but tar in 20000. Then there's the oil dilution issues. Not so bad in country driving but what about granny who lives 2 miles from the store🤨.
That's just a blanket sales pitch that likely has a laundry list of exceptions tucked away somewhere in microprint. I truly hate these quasi lies, not that it hurts me but others. The worlds full of folks who know nothing about cars but pushing a button and driving. Those are the ones that pay the price.
I have a sure fire method to tell 100% if someone is lying, watch the lips. 🤗They are 🤥moving. Same goes for the labels, wording like " new formula, new and improved , yadda yadda" typically in big bold lettering. I took lots of advertising / communication courses in college as electives which broadened 🤥 my horizons. Sadly it works and as intended it will boost sales at least for a while. I'm sure there's a degree of truth to it all having passed review by the legal team but that's about it with the exceptions categorizing about everyone but a traveling salesman.

An answer to Mobil 1 Annual Protection. Castrol makes good oil. It's nice to see more brands at least offering long drain oils. Historically it was only Mobil and Amsoil.

Still not showing A5/B5, while Mobil 1 5w30 does. fail!!

Seems late to the party and a rather niche product with the prevalence of manufacturer specific oil certs and the 20k miles or 1 year (whichever is less) disclaimer.

Anecdotally I would think that people who "over maintain" their cars would not use this product and those who "under maintain" their cars would balk at the price (assuming it's the most expensive on the shelf).

How many miles did you run the Castrol EDGE Extended Performance? I have the same 2.5 engine in my 2016 Escape and I believe it's pretty easy on it's oil...especially with it's 5.7 quart capacity.

That's good to know....I have several quarts of the older (15K) SN version (5w20) that I will eventually run in either my Focus or Escape....thanks

News I see is the Castrol Edge Extended Performance 5w30 is now dexos1 Gen2. Yet all the other grades are not. You'd think if they all were good for 20k oil change intervals, they would all be dexos1 Gen2, which is higher performance standard than SN+, Ford specs, etc.

Yeah, I'm not going to use it again because it's not available locally (I bought it on Amazon to try it) but it's definitely a good oil and if I ended up with more I'd use it. I did use 5w30, but whether you use a 20 weight or 30 weight doesn't matter.
