Happy Surprise when clicking on the Castrol ad above. Found very nice access to Castrol PDS. The lack of easy access to Castrol info was always a bugaboo of mine and I know was the subject of several discussions here. VIrtually everything they had was listed and I found most of the stuff I look for, including CCS and even NOACK in a few cases. Kudos to Castrol! I suppose these sorts of discoveries make it worth the click-time... not to mention that it supports the site.

To me, their PDS info still leaves a lot to be desired. I mean, why would you show HTHS of 2.9 cP for Edge 0w-30, 5w-40, and 10w-40 if they meet ACEA A3???

I like Castrol, all their oils are solid but they're expensive. I also believe their PDS info leaves a lot to be desired. I can routinely get a CASE of Formuala Shell at BJ's for $27 on sale.

I saw a post earlier today that I would nominate for the HOF. I would nominate this one for the HOS. But you go get em tiger tomorrow will be a better day.

Okay so if Pennzoil makes sludge and all that's cool. But then if Castrol is made out of a bean doesn't that mean it will give your car bad gas? What's worse, sludge or bad gas?

The best oils to use are Quaker State and Mobile. Quaker State comes from oats and will help feed the horses which gives you more power. Mobile oil will help your car move around, which is what it's supposed to do, especially if it's an Oldsmobile, but it works on new ones too.

I just commented because it's a step up for Castrol. I've been studying a lot of recent data sheets lately and and comparing them to the sheets in my files from years past and Castrol has come up from next-to-nothing to match more or less what everyone else has. It's a step up from mediocre to insufficient but it's a step up and that deserves a small pat on the back. Darn few PDS are better than insufficient. Only some of the independents offer an adequate PDS IMO. But hey, we're oil nerds and have higher standards.
