Cartridge Filters - Plastic Ends vs None?

I just bought a used Toyota Sienna. It's a 2010 with 88k. The OEM Toyota filter has no end caps on the media and I was worried at first but I've decided to trust that Toyota knows more than I do when it comes to these things. I will be using the OEM filter for the foreseeable future.

I assume your sienna is a cartridge filter. I wouldn’t worry, some of Toyota’s long running canister filters (YZZD3, etc) have a “cartridge in a can” design with no end caps as well. There are a LOT of Tacoma’s and Tundra’s using those filters. I wouldn’t worry about construction AT ALL. You are in good hands.
