Carquest Premium 85773 vs Fram XG8A

The Fram is 99% at 20microns but the carquest lists 99.5% at 20microns.

Anymore information on carquest Premium filters? They seem like really good filters, I do not see them talked that much here so curious about them.

The new CQ filters are made by Purolator. The Premium "blue" filters are reboxed P1, while the "red" filters (part numbers starting with R) are reboxed Classics.

The differences of anything due to the oil filters will never ever be noticed. Worry about the air filter and its plus the intake plumbings seal.

.... shows 99% at 30 microns for the Carquest Premium, which is an oil filter in the class of Fram ToughGaurd, Mobil 1 Extended Performance, all the other ones with a blended paper-glass media.

Farm Ultra is 99%+ at 20 microns, all synthetic, in a class above the Carquest Premium.

Maybe that's an old document? Current description at AAP lists 99.5% same as This Document

I currently use Fram Ultras in 2/3 of my cars soon my Camaro but this is something I noticed recently.

OK, I think you're right. Newer improved media maybe?
If so, then that puts the Carquest Prem about the same construction and performance as Fram ToughGuard, which also does 99%+ at 20 microns using a blended paper-glass media. Also similar to Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil filters performance.

Still, I don't trust Purolator by reputation. Their products have torn way too much. These are really Puro filters as far as I know.

I only pick Fram Ultra or Microgreen oil filters.

Most all of Ultras are actually closer 99.9 @ 20 but they publish lower just to be safe because sometimes there's slightly different efficiency for different part numbers. They used to publish 99.5%+ on the website but now it's different.

Maybe they're using the advanced media from the Bosch Distance Plus or Purolator Boss in them.

Would have to cut one open to be sure, though............

Yeah the website says 99%+, but if you email Jay he'll tell you the actual results are 99.9% @20 microns, it just depends on what the marketing director and legal team agree on that's published, which I understand because most people don't know what the numbers mean.

Has Fram officially been claiming 20k miles (Ultra only)? I heard they were going to, but hadn't seen it yet. Edit: OK, I see it on their website. 20k is official. Sorry.
