what do you set aside for maintaining your car? all inclusive? I sock away $75 per month. it depends on the mileage but it is about this much. it works out to about 9 australian cents or 7.5 US cents to a mile.

per car? or for a number of cars?

I wish I was a better budgeter.

My answer is none.

Small repairs get cash on hand. Larger repairs...Visa.

$75-$100 per month? What are you guys doing, gold plating your cars? Can't remember the latest repair done to the Sentra unless a synthetic oil change is considered a "repair", even with over 225,000 miles on it. The Frontier is still under warranty.

Are you DIY or hiring it? The only thing I have paid somebody to do for years was alignment shims on the rear of my Cavalier, $263.

I don't know your financial situation and it's not my business, but I never spend money unless I have it.

Yes I use my Visa/MC but only if cash is sitting in the bank for that purchase first otherwise the purchase is delayed.

This is for all things other than a Mortgage / Car payment.

Man alive I don't know what kind of cars you guys are driving, but what ever they are I'm sure glad I don't own them, they'ed drive me to the poorhouse.

'97 Geo Metro 2008 thru 2009 16,000 miles $513.00
2006 thru 2007 28,000 miles $317.00

This is for repairs, not encluding oil changes or gas. No tires purchased during this period and do not need any yet.

I set nothing aside. I fix what needs fixing.
I maintain everything , from oiling hinges on up.
$75 a month should be plenty for anywhere near normal maintenance.
