I would say that is accurate. Tirerack wants to sell you tires, but even they will admit that tires do not age out.

No tests, no evidence and no consensus. Just recommendations by people who makes the car, not the tires. This is from the second article.
No money to be made testing out old tires. Basic industry consensus is 6-10 years depending on the location and conditions. Like sunny places that get more exposure to the sun, maybe less and in less sunny conditions maybe longer. Up to the consumer to decide.
