And there you go.

Hint: more teachers help lower the cost of your son's private preschool as well, whether you get the voucher or not.

Does this apply to non-citizens?

I think you have a bigger problem if you are earning less than 16k a year. I imagine it apply to green card holder (same right and responsibility as citizen other than they can't vote or can't be jury yet).

We are all global citizens now so why not?

I don't think you are if you are only looking at the people close to you or in your own community, and consider other people's well being disposible, and not consider health care a right.

Nothing wrong with not being a global citizen, however. It is merely a personal choice.

I for one will be taking advantage of this program. We have very limited income, and my federal student loan payment is about $60/mo and my wife's is $275/mo, money we could be using to pay down high-interest credit cards or buying groceries...by paying down and eliminating our high-interest debt and then switching back to our regular payments on the low-interest student loans, will allow us to reduce our total debt and begin saving again. Living in CA for years really killed us financially, and now that we are outta there we're starting to catch up. Never big spenders (see the "Cheapskate Thread"), but having to put milk and gas to get to work on a credit card because our cost of living was so high was a huge bummer.

I like the program, and will be using it.

On the flip side, I had been unemployed for 2 months (asked for time off for my wife's pregnancy/delivery, boom-- FIRED!), never even considered taking Unemployment...just sucked it up and sold some junk in the garage to pay the bills, now start a new job Monday at a 270% pay raise :)

Not if the school has to pay higher taxes in order for the gov. to forgive student loans...

Same goes if I have to pay more in taxes for the same purpose as it reduces my spending power.

There are no vouchers in Nevada, so it's pretty hard to use something that doesn't exist.

In the previous discussion about schools I said that IF vouchers were available they would be better than government owned schools. And that I could put my son into private school for the price or less than the public schools pay per student.

However, Panda is more than happy to take my comments out context in order to attack me on something I never said.

Inside joke. I guess you missed it.

Hmmm... The Hill School, a favorite of Donald Trump's son ..and a multitude of children of The League of Distinguished Gentlemen ...located RIGHT HERE in scummy Pottstown PA pays no property taxes ..since they are a non-profit organization. Now the place is surely loaded with wealth ..but ..as you point out ..wealth needs help.

They're even so gracious to expand into the surrounding urban zones ..buying up properties ...and moving them out of the tax base and into the tax exempt status. Very kind of them as our community falls deeper and deeper into rising costs..

Take the virtual tour of what vouchers would make easier for those who don't need them.

That would be the government taking money from someone and giving it to another, no?

Yes, Drew. It appears that you are perfectly willing to take my comments out of context as well.

I'm not taking anything out of context. I just wanted the record to show that for programs YOU want, you're perfectly willing to have the government take MY money and give it to you. That's all.

I guess you missed the big IF and "better" in my statement.

So as I said, you are taking my statement out of context.

That works under Natural Law. Whatever you see as proper ..is proper. It doesn't have to have any consistency or balance to it since the philosophy, unto itself, is free forming under whatever your natural internal wetware allows.

It's proven to be not only convenient but the most beneficial personal philosophy. You can take ..but not give. You can leverage, but have impunity from being leveraged. You can help promote others walking into traps ..and demand that you get your personal escape hatch. Make a mess ..and leave others to clean it up.

I see you are still not seeing the better part...

Interesting how you have to take things out of context in order to "make your point."

No, what's interesting is how you try and weasel yourself out of hypocrisy.

You support vouchers for private education. That very concept goes completely against you entire notion of government, socialism, and the taking of people's money to give it to others. That's what school vouchers do!

You're stating that "IF" Nevada had a voucher system, you'd use it because public schools suck and private schools are better.

You do not know what you are talking about, do you? Schools pay UBIT taxes, look it up. I spend a month every year working on it.

Please show me where I have stated this? I have said that it is the better result of a dichotomy.

You don't like this you take what I say out of context.
