Cancer really really really sucks

My father died of bone cancer one of the worst. I just wish he could have seen my daughter, he always thoughjt I was a failure (ADHD) but would have adored her. I'm cracking up...s

+1 on recommending Hospice. They can care for your friend and keep her comfortable and pain-free. They also have really good counseling services for the family.

My thoughts and prayers.

I have lost my best friend and cousin at the age of 12 to Leukaemia, as well as both grandparents on my mother's side.

It is a relentless and savage disease which I prey they will find a real cure for.

Thank you for all your prayers. She's in amazingly good spirits, much to my surprise. She's going to take the doctor's option of going for more chemo to extend her life a bit. How much? We don't know. Perhaps only a few months, perhaps not. I have a feeling her husband knows exactly what the doctor said and the truth is too much to bear for him and he's candy-coating the news to us. I don't blame him.

Thank you ALL.

Yes, get the treatment. My father was first diagnosed at age 49, and was given a month to live. Then the cancer went into remission, and he had another seven years. Seven good years. You never know what can happen.

It also gives us and those close to her more time to pray, which I believe can make a big difference.

My heart goes out to you, your friends and their family. It is so very hard on the family & friends of those who get terminal cancer. I am so sorry.

If your friend choses to not continue chemo, Hospice can be such a blessing. My spouse did weekly chemo for over 7 months and then 3 treatments 3 weeks apart. There came a time, though, that my husband and I realized it was time to stop "treatments" and call hospice. It was such a blessing. They were there for my husband, myself and my 18 year old daughter. It made an impossible situation bearable and made us feel more secure in our home care. Also, they do offer bereavement services to my daughter and myself for 13 months.

God Bless you all, Laura
