Canceled my BP credit card

I buy fuel at Circle K, where I get 15 cents off/gallon for paying with my Circle K card that is linked to my debit card.

Well, finally got around to canceling my BP card today. I got it a few years ago when BP replaced a local Speedway station. The big deal was .15 off a gallon and they indicated that their additive package was equal to or exceeded Toptier. Anyway, did some research and read some analysis of actual detergents present, turns out, not so much. Additionally, only one BP station in my area and they are ALWAYS the highest price. Exxon locally with my .10 cents/gallon off nets out at $2.799, BP nets out at $3.249. I give up. Just not worth it. I'm sticking with ExxonMobil, Shell or Sunoco, lower prices and a Toptier stickers on the pumps.
Can you please link to the the BP additive research you found.

Actually it was in a YouTube video comparing additive levels in various brands of fuel, not surprisingly a lot didn't even have the minimum Government standard, definitely not a research study, but interesting, several TopTier brands actually exceeded published levels. BP blows a lot of smoke on their website, but no actual numbers. Ultimately, for me, it was their insane pricing locally and the uncertainty of buying a product with certifications rather than one with non-verifiable claims

There's the problem.....Believing a youtube video.

i use my BP eanify card quite a bit since we have two homes 40 miles apart. By having Amazon membership and earnify I always get .20 cents off and some specials they have had going on I have gotten 35 cents off and a dollar off. My vehicles just run better on it than Marathon or Sam's Club gas.

I would never link anything to my debit card.......A credit card I would and do....any issues it is a lot easier to deal with a credit card...IMO....When it gets posted I pay it off....works for me....

Several gas apps nowadays (QT, Chevron for starters) allow you...er...encourage linking your checking account straight to the app so they save off of credit/debit card transaction fees. I totally get it from the merchant perspective, but while it's more convenient than cash, you give up a bunch of security having your routing & account numbers.

I.e., I say "so what if there's a data leak w/ my credit card #", I can dispute that since it's the bank's money. If it's my checking acct #, they can clean that **** out👀

Every time you send anyone a paper check, that check has, imprinted on it, your account number and the bank routing number. As a result, I pay for transactions, wherever possible, with a credit card.

i had money stolen from my checking account about 10 years ago. The bank refunded me and opened a new checking account. They were really good about the transition period, allowing outstanding checks on the old account to clear and covering debits from bills that I pay directly from my old checking account. Overall, the less you pay by check, the better. Pay everything through a credit card and pay the credit card via online banking.
