Can I mix oil viscosity and brand?

For the price of a quart of oil vs. what the manual recommends,vs. the possible damage and shortening the engine life,why chance it.The proper oil,level,clean air filter,fins ,good spark plug and non ethanol gas,its not that hard

The owners manual lays out the minimum you must do -

Many people seem to think it is also the best but I don’t.

Lots of better choices that 10W30 conventional oil and that is probably the most recommended option.

Hot Houston summers I would take a mix of 5W30 and 15W40 over that choice.

But the reality is in most normal lawn mower situations it simply doesn’t matter one bit.
