Can different brand of oil give you a rougher ride?

Maybe this is all in my head...I just had my oil changed and went from Mobil 1 to Pennz Plat (both 5W30) and I swear that the engine doesn't seem as smooth as it was with the M1...is this possible? It has onlt been maybe 250 miles since the change...does the engine need to adapt to the different additives etc?

I wouldn't doubt you could feel some sort of a difference. Regardless of what people say, you konw your engine better than anyone. On my old car the engine felt completely different from oil to oil. The Pennzoil Petroleum felt....the thickest, let's just call it. Hated it. On the other hand Murray's $.89 oil felt gorgeous with the same weight.

i've noticed variations in the level of "lumpy" idle I get with different oils..

GC is smooth as I can expect from this old beater though, lol.

(btw- it's a manual, so it's not the common vibrations caused by interface with a torque converter)

Well not sure what it is but ever since I had the oil changed out the car has been running a lot rougher...seems louder and more vibrations seem to being transmitted thru the gas pedal and the steering wheel...level is right so its not like they forgot to put the oil in there...

I'm going to switch back out to M1 this weekend and use a M1 filter.....I mean what else could they have done just by changing the oil? I find it tough to swallow that a brand diff could cause the ride to be rougher but....heck thats all they did was change the oil...maybe bent the frame on the **** lift

I have had noticeable changes in a car's operation after changing oils.

Most recently I had a valve click and a noisy engine in my wife's Murcielago. I changed the Agip 5W-40 to 0W-30 Mobil 1 and the thing smoothed out and the click disappeared.
