Can a bad muffler cause vibrations and pulsing?

This is on my 05 Liberty, 230k miles, factory muffler. Getting a pulsing/vibration feeling on acceleration, can definitely hear an exhaust leak. Up near the engine bay it sounds normal, walk around it and it's definitely louder at the muffler. Can a bad muffler cause a pulsing/vibration feeling while driving too? Engine seems to run fine, at WOT I don't feel it, it's more noticeable in the moderate load range. Just cruising it seems smoother.

If a baffle is loose and blocking the exhaust it can cause drivability issues.

I'll throw a little more color on this one - happened after this:

Engine bay got soaked, drove it home after fixing it on the side of the road, no issues. Let it sit all weekend and went to drive it Tuesday, and instantly had a flashing CEL and misfires. Suspected water finally seeped in the electrical connectors for the coils and down the coils (have had this happen after washing the engine - same thing, was fine right away but after a few days the water creeped in). Took all the coils out and blasted the connectors and the spark plug wells out with the air-compressor, the 1-3-5 bank had some moisture. Started it back up and no more CEL, but have the sound going on I posted at the start of this thread. I feel like it's the loudest near the muffler and I know the muffler has been getting louder over the past year or so. Essentially debating if this is an exhaust issue or something coil related. Just hard to guess with the coils without any CEL, even scanned it and nothing came up.

I appreciate the help so far! thanks.
