And the comments on Youtube are irrelevant. The car MPH'd what a V6 Camaro MPH's, even with the worst launch in the world, the car would still run a decent MPH, I know this because I've done plenty of runs on street tires. You can cut a horrific ET due to wheelspin but the MPH always reflects the power output of the car (unless he intentionally let off before the end of the track, but then he's not really racing now is he?

) so I stand by my statement, as somebody who has not only been to many a drag race but having done a fair bit of it myself. To give you an idea, my '88 Town Car ET'd bottom 16's at ~88Mph. On street tires my Mustang would run anything from a bottom 14 to a low 15, but the MPH was always ~100.
 
That's wonderful overkill but again take it up with That07camry if you think he's a liar and let this rest already and get back on topic.

He can continue to pretend that his Camry is faster than an SS on Youtube all he wants, this isn't a discussion taking place on youtube, it is taking place in this thread because you posted the video.

This video has plenty of wheelspin (the Camaro ran 13.8) but still had the proper MPH (109):
 
Very nice vids overkill and congrats on the 22k+ posts. I wish I had the time to post more on such an informative forum.

YOU BROUGHT IT UP!!!

So now that he proved it isn't an SS(if that wasn't pretty obvious) and completely irrelevant to the V6 Camry beating anything.

Now you want to forget it ever happened? ehhhhhhhhhhhh Wrong! This is the internet. We remember/rehash/hold grudges/never let go of anything! Heck...when was the last time you've heard "Don't use Pennzoil it has wax in it."?
 
Oh thanks for the reminder Thermo that this is the internet: where we all(myself included) act like experts and tough guys/gals and quick to escalate another's opinion but in the general public we act like gentlemen and ladies.

I'm much nicer on the net then in public. I've got an image to maintain in the real world. On the net I can just enjoy not having to keep the eyes on the back of my head open.

It was said in jest but you have never heard that expression before I take it.

To put it bluntly I was being sarcastic as to the fact that everything you do online is stored in some super awesome database. People forget conversations because we are human, computers do not.

It was not meant to be taken seriously as is anything online really.

More than altitude even I bet the reaction and 60' ft times are awful and that's whats causing the bad E.T.s If you aren't used to drag racing, it's harder than it looks.
 
Getting older, in less hurry, more working room, mpg.... as time goes, I'm getting to appreciate the I4's more.
The older 98 Camry I4 my son drives has been absolutely issue free... OCs, tune-ups, timing belts....
I since have bought 2 more I4 vehicles (Rav no longer in the fleet, 2010 Hyundai recent buy for to/from work).
I was always a V8 guy and there was a time I'd never consider anything less (excluding boats, mower etc.). Now I drive a 4 and wife a 6.

You are partially correct. Reaction time is the time it takes for you tire (or some part of the car) to break the beam and start the 1/4 mile timing clock. You could sit there for 2 hours or 2 days once the light is green, If you don't break the beam your 1/4 mile time never starts. So it you wait 2 hours or 2 days, you could still run the same exact time.
Traction is a big one. For every .10 you gain in the 60 foot, you should pick up about .15 in the complete 1/4 mile.

I'm fully aware of how reaction time works and I'm not saying that effected his time but as an indication he is a novice drag racer in general.

Sure I do its called using a DA(density altitude) calculator to get accurate 1/4 mile times at altitude.

So then you know you are wrong about what an SS VS Camry can do. Yet you continue to, I will be nice, misspeak.
 
If the I4 has a timing chain and the v6 does not, take that into consideration. Lower maintenance cost with the chain. The I4 in my Accord has plenty of pep and is unstressed at highway speeds well in excess of the legal limit. I have zero regrets not going with the V6, all things considered. Still there is something to b said for the viceral punch of a V6 off the line and the buttery smoothness of its operation. But weighed against the virtues of a well engineered I4, operated in real world conditions, I'd give the 4 the nod time and again.
