I did not know, so your surity of my knowledge is totally incorrect...Do you assume the knowledge or lack of knowledge of everyone in society..??

So a topic of zinc and phosphorus turns into someone's opinion of the meaning of words or Names...Pretty sad..!!!

Wow, I think you completely missed the point Quattro Pete was making. He thought it was odd that the censor changed your screename when it was quoted but you were still allowed to use it when you registered. I don't think he was associating any meanings of the word to you.

OK, I looked it up too and had to chuckle that someone knew to program that into the censor. I must be old.

Hey, I finally learned something new from BITOG today! Its been a while.

I had to Googled too, I had no idea what it meant. It's an interesting word. For the record a few years back "God" in my sig line was censored. Johnny complained to the mods and it is no longer censored.

I was going to ask you or Doug or someone else who lives down under about "the etymology of that idiom" but I thought better of it after I figured it out on my own.

Nonetheless, if his friends called him this back in university, he really doesn't need any enemies.

Hahahahaha...

Let's hope college wasn't too long ago! Think he'll come back?

I worked with a twenty-something named Adonis. He had no idea who Adonis was until I told him.

Judging by his other posts, the OP is a troll, so I'm sure he'll be back for more. He knows very well what his screen name means and he chose it on purpose.

No, it's not about hiding information from their competitors. All of the big players have at least one lab dedicated to formulating and testing new oil. These labs are full of spendy equipment and smart chemists who will have little difficulty dissecting whatever the competition is selling. The big companies ALREADY know what the other guys are up to.

Their real worry is that the customers, if enlightened to any degree, might gain enough knowledge to begin to ask awkward questions. "Gee, your oil is chemically very similar to the stuff Brand Y is selling for half the price. Care to explain?" or "Your premium tier of oil is not really that much different from your mainstream offering. What's up with that?" Those are questions they don't want to answer.

I honestly think this whole "It's proprietary" line is a conscious part of their overall marketing strategy. To tell the customer anything useful is to open the floodgates of genuine inquiry. Instead, it's much easier to stonewall, and promote your product with "Think with your Dipstick" level commercials. (The average motor oil ad contains 30% "Vroom-vroom noises, 50% overused adjectives, 20% misleading specs, and ZERO % real information.)

Just because you have 20,000 plus posts does not make you Judge Superior on this site....

From what I've seen of you here you are very immature and your self righteousness is an insult and an embarrassment to people who try to act civilized....

[censored] was the name of a very good High School basketball player in New York City in the early 70's....

In college I played ball with one of his team-mates and since I was athletic enough to do some of the same things that [censored] did athletically, I was also given his name as a nick-name... Affectionately....

[censored], from New York, also had a relative who played Quarterback for the Patriots decades ago...

Until now, I've never had the knowledge of the slimey-ness that you attach to the word...

When I joined and they asked for a user-name my first 2 choices were already taken by other members so I put in the [censored] name...

You're pretty tough and obnoxious with all your buddies here that you are trying to impress...I bet you never played sports or did any sort of worthy honest competition.

Oh, I don't know what a Troll is either,,, I guess I haven't learned all the gutter [censored] that you've learned.. I didn't hang out in the gutter like you did,, I'm civilized..

I used to eat guys like you for breakfast..You are a dime a dozen...
Good luck on your next 20,000 posts,,maybe they'll make you the CEO of the site and you can run it into the ground...

Man, just let it slide.

...or wipe it off or whatever. Nobody here really thinks you are actually a chunk of fecal matter from down under. Your name turned out to have a funny alternate meaning. Don't make a big deal out of it and it'll blow over like the wind.
