Caliper pin rubber vs steel

Hi guys,

Replacing the second caliper pin in the Outback front calipers.

The kit came with two pins.....one with a rubber sleeve and one thats solid steel.

Its odd because both pins have the rubber sleeve.

Can I use them interchangeably? The steel pin fits with no slop and is the same diameter at the tip.

I use Sil-glide for anything caliper related.

On my Hyundai Accent one has two rubber bushings and the other none. The one with none goes in the bottom.

Unsure why some calipers pins have the rubber sleeve. I would guess to prevent it from seizing or maybe reduce vibration.

On my Accent I've had it on both top and bottom but the parts drawing show the rubber bushings on top.
