Filter Penzoil Platinun HE# HPZ-28, oil was M1 5w30. Neither had many miles.

I recently bought a new to me 02 Corvette Coupe w/5.7L LS1 w/60k miles since new. Previous owner since 2004 always ran M1 5w30. He was not a DIYer. Oil and filter had been changed not long before I bought the car, but I didn't like how the oil filter stuck down lower than anything else under the car, so I did an oil & filter change. Here the filter that came off.

Looks like a good filter too me. I tore it so see what it looked like.

What say you?

Congratulations on the ride! This filter looks to be low mileage & great shape! I'm going to assume the HE stands for High Efficiency? I know the standard PZ filters aren't. Always loved their yellow bottle of oil. I would tell my father how much I liked it just for that reason alone & then he would go into a rant how Arnold Palmer commercial re-runs ruined it for him. 🤣

Looks like a built-by Purolator. Was there a date code on the can?

Jetman,
That oil filter looks great.

ZeeOSix I agree filter may be a PureOne. Purolator PureOne's are advertised having a "PTFE impregnated NBR sealing gasket for ease of installation and removal" that is advertised for this filter also. Base plates look the same too.

Even though fuzzy, it does look like a Purolator date code ("J" is the year?).
