C&P for Hengst H97W05 (7317 equivalent)

Used just 2,700 miles because of short OCI using Valvoline R&P in 2010 Honda Element SC with K24 motor. 257,000 miles.

Filter quality looks very good.

The engine, the entire vehicle actually, has been meticulously maintained. It's had 5K OCIs its entire life using one of the Castrol synthetics, probably black bottle 5W-30 mostly. I had no reason to use R&P because even at 250K+ it only used about 1/4 quart per 5K OCI - so Castrol seems to have served me well. I tried R&P because it's talked about a lot and I figured it couldn't hurt anything.

I can imagine you missing SLO. It's a beautiful area on the planet. Here's a picture for you.

Hengst has some of the best build quality filters. I have a H14W32 (PH3614 equivalent) I have been waiting to use.

Only issue is Hengst publishes pretty much no efficiency data that I can find on their filters

I'm sure both you and @OilStainedNapkin spent many an evening at Farmer's Market on Higuera Street checking out the student "scenery". And congrats to both of you for attending Cal Poly. It's a great school. I think the blend of AG and Engineering programs is what makes Poly unique.

The strikingly pretty daughter of one of my old colleagues graduated from Poly with an engineering degree of some sort. She's now a specialized welder of some sort and travels around the world doing under water, deep sea welding. She earns MASSIVE money. $$$$$.

Thanks for sharing, the Polish made Hengst filters always looked well made and were very well priced on Rock Auto. I believe the workmanship declined when they moved production elsewhere.

No published efficiency but the magnified photos from WCW look alright. Similar to Fram PH and better than Denso in my opinion.

Commercial diving is $$$ though. If you think “rec” scuba diving is expensive, even cave diving where closed circuit rebreathers are used(trimix is expensive due to the helium used, sidemount is also common in cave diving) is cheap in comparison…

FWIW I buy the Hengst filters for our Honda from Summit Racing. Summit Racing is a distributor for Hengst. I've gotten them on sale for $4 or less at times. The ones I've gotten from Summit have always been Polish made.

I drink their beer but actually going to the Paso brewery or the restaurant for lunch or dinner, maybe once every couple of months.

Recently I did take a tour of the Paso brewery. Pics attached. The number of pipes - all perfectly aligned with each other - was amazing.

I got 8 of them, including the C&P, from Summit Racing about 3 months ago. Bummer if they're made in Mexico now.
