My fiancée bought her son a 2008 Focus a few months ago with 89,000 miles. It idled pretty rough and it was due to a leaking valve cover gasket that had leaked oil down into the plug wells. I replaced the gasket, plugs, and coil ends and it idled much better. I ended up replacing the motor and transmission mounts and now it idles very nice. We recently had to have the thermostat replaced because the CEL came on and it was a common failure for this engine. He has put over 10,000 miles on it and it's still running fine.
