Teen killed after reportedly burglarizing cop's home

A Chicago Police roundtable discussion is under way Tuesday afternoon after a teen allegedly broke into an off-duty officer’s home and was fatally shot when the officer caught him in the Gresham neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Obviously, it wasn't a professional job.

A roundtable discussion was being conducted afternoon to determine if the off-duty officer followed state and departmental guidelines in his use of force, she said.

IMHO if you break into anyone's house you get what you deserve.

Watch out for the boiling broth.

We had that happen in our dept. a few years back. Found out the perp was allergic to lead

Reminds me of one I heard happen in a nearby jurisdiction where the guy broke in with something else on his mind. He had seen the female officer (unbeknownst to him obviously) at that house a couple times and thought she was pretty good looking. Entered the house one night and she awoke to him standing near the bed totally naked. Not able to reach her weapon she grabbed the nearest thing that would incapacitate him (use your imagination). She twisted as hard as she could and dialed the phone one-handed while he screamed. The dispatcher though he was shot, he was screaming so loud. Anyway, everyone and his brother responded since it was a fellow officer and they found him still screaming while she basically had his manhood twisted up like a pretzel. He got several years in prison but I have a feeling that was easy compared to what "justice" was served by her.

Had another one around here recently where it wasn't a cop's house, but the house of a high level UFC (Ulimate Fight Championship) challenger. The loser could not match skills and spent 2 months in the hospital, at times in critical condition, before recovering enough to have his day in court. Stupid people are my job security

Gee, I keep having this recurring nightmare where I find myself living in a world dominated by peace and harmony, and where everyone treats others and their property with dignity and respect. I actually have to go out and find a real job! I awaken with a start, damp with cold sweat. After a moment, though, I take a deep breath and relax. This is the real world, and there will always be a steady stream of new clients to keep the house and the college accounts funded. . .

p.s. Of course, notwithstanding business opportunity such behavior creates for me and my colleagues, burglarizing anyone's house is a terrible idea!

There's a good cops episode where a guy breaks into a house, and a BIG ol brurly dude just beat the living #@$%! out of the suspect. The victim actually was in the process of joining the force. He said he was taunting the suspect and talkin smack; "you broke into the wrong house buddy!"

This is why I figure burgulars are either A/Stoopid; B/Whacked on meth; C/Brave. You never know what kind of armed toothless monstrosity lives inside.

Pa. law states if you find him in the house you can kill him. Just make sure he dies IN the house not on the porch or in the yard.

It can't be that easy. Heck ...just drag someone you want to kill in your house.

Welcome! Come on in.

I'd think you'd be OK so long as the dying process began within the confines of the house? But yes, I can see where there'd certainly be less questions asked if you finish him (or her) off inside. . .

You two are both from PA -- this is somewhat alarming!

If you think we're bad you should talk to the people that live in the center of the state.

We are a little more moderate on the coasts of Pennsylvania.
I know a guy that lives about 100 miles north of me that was told by a Pa State Trooper that was called out for a prowler on his property. 1200 Acre Farm. Where he lives all the LE they have is the State Police. So you can wait up to hour for a trooper to get to you. The troopers are spread out a little thin in some of these communities.
The trooper told him the next time don't waste your time calling us just Shoot, Shovel, Shut-UP.
He was probably joking but it was funny to hear that a cop, (Especially a Pa. State Trooper) would tell someone that.
