Burger King Whopper

I'm not a fast food man it's just not my thing..Where I grew up in NY there was no fast food places in our town and to this day there's only one and it's on the town line. All food establishments were locally owned. Fast food to me was pizza, deli or the bagel store. Where I live now fast food is 5 minutes away n still no interest..I did have a few whoppers over the years I will say it was good 👍

Back when I was in high school Burger King had a steak sandwich. Used the long chicken sandwich bread, some steak, cheese, 3 onion rings, lettuce and then topped with an A1 Steaksauce type sauce. That was my absolute favorite but that was a long time ago.

I’ll have to try a modern day Whopper. It’s been 30+ years. Stopped at McDonalds last Friday while on the road to Augusta Georgia and got a 1/4 pounder combo. It was like eating beef flavored lard. Too much info but I was afraid I’d need a diaper for the trip home the next day… Not so easy to stop while pulling a boat.

NGL, BK burgers are my favorite. Just regular ole cheeseburgers. For the 4-5 times I get it a year, always delicious with just ketchup, mustard and pickle. The diet Dr. Pepper they offer is the icing on the cake.

Croissants are great...
The croissants I've tried there were made with rancid oil. They were absolutely unacceptable.

I too recall the Whopper as being 'the best of 'em all'.
Then, for decades, I never gave these places a thought except for Wendy's 2 for $3 breakfast sandwiches.
AND NOW many Wendy's have ceased breakfast service.

This Wednesday, I will try a $3.99 Whopper if and only if no app is involved (I'm bracing for the "fine print surprise")

That can happen anywhere....
I got my free Whopper just now

Had a Whopper 6 months ago and it was great. 2 months ago the Whopper was not hot, had way too much mayo and was cooked to within a whisker of becoming carbon. Obviously a leftover reheated for the 2pm crowd. Just a mess. They replaced it but consistent quality is still a huge issue in the FF biz.

IMO, Burger King is one of the few if not the ONLY fast food joint that for for the most part, IS exactly the same as I remember from my 1980's High School days.

The original Chicken sandwich is exactly the same with the exception in the 80's the chicken sandwich was wrapped twice and cut in half. The Whopper is exactly the same, the fries do change every decade or so but the onion rings are the same now as the 80's.

Contrast, Wendys in the 70's featured commercials that were all about napkins and how juicy the burgers were but juicy translates to fats and a Wendys burger beef of today is not what I would call juicy as I assume the saturated fats are now much less and fats = taste.

Many years ago McD's changed from ice cream to frozen yogurt and the fried apple pies became baked apple pies.

But Burger Kings still rocks, notice next time you are at a Burger King during a busy time the entire parking lot will be filled with glorious smoke from those flame broiled burgers like a back yard BBQ! However, in my area Burger Kings still taste great but the locations are BAD, not clean and the employees are BAD too.

We did get a brand new nice Burger King but from day one had staffing issue. One day everything is fine, next day note on the door dining room closed drive thru only staff shortage, This became the norm and then CLOSED with-in a year.

Back when Wendy’s was best (period you mentioned) - my friends family (huge ranch, feedlots, feeds, meat packing) supplied the square patties - same any one you walked into …
As said often here - enter the accountants …

Yep, I tend to hit a mom & pop in that price range - last Whopper I had was very messy - but I guess it’s time to give them another chance.

Use to eat Whoppers, or Wendy's, or McDonald's stuff all the time 15 yrs ago. Then my gall bladder got plugged up and had to be removed. Doctor said junk food did it in. Haven't gone to one of those places since. Whopper was my fav though.

Ha-ha. I'll get back to this thread after Wednesday's Whopper.
Thanks for the laugh, Zee09
Too much mayo but I could have adjusted that in the app but I got my French toast sticks too....good

There is a BK directly across the street from my work. It's so bad that none of us ever go there. Maybe this will improve the food there?
Most likely not as I see those places here...bad management.
We have a horrible Wendy's here...no thanks

Too much mayo
Back in the '70's, my sis and BIL had a restaurant in the Bronx.
FYI: It was called "Sightless in a Savage Land", on Mosholu Avenue...not to be confused with Mosholu Parkway.

There were customers who detested mayonnaise and customers who wanted the stuff troweled on their sandwiches to a measurable 1/2" depth. I found that excessive.
Also, I think BK switching from a generic to Hellman's mayo was a notable part of the current menu refreshment.

They need to tighten up on the workers... I got 8 French toast sticks instead of 5 I ordered and 4 syrups...

There's a young lady that is sweet on me because she is trying to use me to get to @KCJeep fresh GTL Quaker State Ultimate Protection stash...
