Bugatti could easily install a "nanny" system to monitor the oil temps, and cut them back to a more reasonable couple hundred horsepower, and 80MPH when appropriate.

Really, although they advertise 1,000hp, most users don't need that, and therefore wouldn't really need the 10W60...the car would be more efficient on 5W20...

I'm pretty sure the Bugatti monitors oil temperatures closely. You want to cripple a Bugatti for the purpose of increased efficiency? It's a wasteful vehicle for people who don't mind a wasteful combustion engine. Nobody buys a Bugatti for efficiency, unless he must get somewhere really fast, of course.

That engine, as I recall, contains a lot of VW parts. "A stretched version of the W12 which itself is based on the VR6" which as we know is a pedestrian passenger car engine. Seems like a thick oil is needed to hold the kuldge together.

Also, as an added bonus, you could use all those ponies without the need for a proper warm-up, but you would need a 0W20 for that...

being from temperate climate, I forgot all about the flooring it from cold issues that arise from untrained ownership.

With 2/5 of a drum (that's a massive 40% of a BIG drum) of oil in the sump, it will take a long time to reach the magical 10cst.

I'm not quite sure how Bugatti train their owners to be cogniscent of the immediate danger of the above, but I'm assuming that they got it right in Oz, as I've not come across a single failed engine aside the road.

Having some experience with types who buy such expensive cars I can tell you the response to finding such a system in their million dollar baby would be "THAT is simply NOT acceptable and I'm looking elsewhere".
