new Explorer, Oil Options & Break in

Looks like either Mobil 1 ESP or Valvoline Restore and Protect are the top contenders for oils & I’m leaning towards the ESP only due to how hard turbo’s are on oil & it seems ESP is a smidgen better & if I’m using it in 2 different eco boost’s

0W-30 or 5W-30 is a tossup but might go with 5W-30 just for ease of only stocking one oil vs 2 & using it in the 22 Bronco Sport with the 1.5L eco boost

I'm not saying you should, or shouldn't, use Mobil 1 ESP, but if you do use ESP - the 0w30 is better, but 5w30 is good too. I see no problem with mixing 0w30 & 5w30 ESP if one is out of stock.

However, there's several lower cost options at Walmart that are excellent oils with GF-6 or GF-7 approval/spec that are good for turbo'd engines.
