My daughter was parrallel parking and hit the side mirror of the another car. She told the other guy she would pay for damages but they still exchanged info. Car was a Saturn not sure what model. If he accepts her offer should she get a release so he doesnt make a claim on her(my) insurance?

There's a chance you can let your insurance company know you'll reimburse them and it won't count as a claim.

Some idiot who hit my wife, and already had a couple accidents under his belt, did this with his company and paid my wife indirectly through them.

Remember, insurance is there to cover you IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A CLAIM which you may not if it's small. A side mirror, they'll nickel and dime you and get their money back anyway.

An S-series mirror is $35 on ebay and 10 minutes work to change for someone with the skillset of "I hung this shoe rack." She could have ordered one on her smart phone at the scene and had it shipped to the poor guy.

When dealing with anyone always commit everything to writing with signatures and a witness. Don't forget time, date and location. Always mark originals and copies.

Good documents make good neighbors, or something like that.

They can still file a claim against you, but if you have proof that you paid them, the insurance company won't be paying anything out to them if you let them know.

You're missing a zero or two.

It was a Saturn, not a Mercedes.

Be careful in California if you get involved with an illegal. They get free legal advice and different organizations help them at no charge. They are privileged people, here. They will be told what to say and what to do. Even if you are correct but stand your ground the legal system may not act in your favor.

So you were just intentionally being misleading by saying S-series? The only cars that are called series/class are M-B and BMW.

The OP mentioned Saturn and the original models, that began with S, are the most well known Saturns.

http://www.saturnfans.com/cars/s-series/

They are generally if not officially called the S-series. Maybe not at your country club...

When I hear S-series, I think Saturn. When I hear S-class, I think Mercedes.

The very first post says its a Saturn.

If he wanted to mislead he could have said S Class (Mercedes), when I. Act he actually said S series. BMW cars are numbered but he didnt say 3 series or 5 series, he said S series.

Isn't it clearly obvious?

There's no S series BMW, their cars are numbered for example 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.

If you hit my mirror and did this in my face and expect me to accept it, i might punch you. On the other hand if you offered me $200 and everything goes away... i might take it and call it good, i drive a S-Series SATURN after all.

I had a lady in a S-class hit my maxima's mirror while in driving, i followed her and told her. She was completely shocked and didn't believe me til i told her to look at her own pass. mirror and it was hanging off her car. I got the mirror quoted at nissan i think for $150, $100 to paint and $150 to install. Ebay showed $49 for mirror. She cut me a check for $400 and i bought my ebay mirror.

You hit my car, you owe me a OEM mirror and time wasted getting the quote and install. I didn't sign but i knew i could, i probably could of gotten her for a hit and run..

To the OP, i would tell your daughter to show he owner cost of mirror on ebay and offer $200 cash and be done with it. $200 gets a LOT of gas in a Saturn.
