Brake parts cleaner onto a Hornets Nest?🐝

My dad used to wait until long after sundown and throw a quart jar of gasoline on hornet’s nests, then flick a match at them. It was pretty hard on the tree LOL.

Theoretically any sort of petroleum or solvent product should work because hornets breathe through their wings/skin. I would consider trying it on a small nest after dark, assuming I had a quick and unobstructed route to shelter.

I always use a big cup or tumbler of very soapy water and have another just next in case I miss but my aim is spot on by now. Might want to practice with just pure water in some random corner. They die because of the soap interfering with their wings so they crawl a little and they seem to die from asphyxiation if you leave them on the ground but I stomp them anyway.

In that case, a big super soaker, the kind like a big suction gun would work great.

Looked it up and I can see it working for small nests but it doesn't throw a big one hit wallop of water like a big tumbler being swung at it. That cup dumping everything at once hits them hard and floods them. I think the water gun might let some escape and go towards you. For very small nest it would work but for large ones the large tumbler or cup is guaranteed if you have good aim.

Well, I should clarify... this nest is on an overhang of my back yard porch. I'm DEFINITELY forgetting the lighter.

Do you have a pressure washer, lol? Maybe one of those soap dispensers you put on a garden hose?

Ran out of long reach spray pesticide and the local hardware store has it on backorder.... I got tons of Brakekleen. Should kill them instantly, right?
i did it a few times over the years break, carb cleaner is Slow, and they get really mad so have a exit planned out. WD-40 smells better makes them just as mad but nothing works like foaming Ace brand hornet spray. That stuff is instant hornet wasp bug death!
