Brake Pad Selection Advice

Centric PQ Pros are absolute dust machines and also significantly cheaper than EBC redstuff. It has the same type of break-in coating which causes nasty squealing for the first 1k miles or so but performance is impressive.

I'd use a block of wood before I ever put Akebono ceramics in any of my cars again.
Absolutely! Totally agree about Akebono. Worst pads I ever used. But many ppl love them. I guess smoothness and silence is what they want.

My issue with the Akebono aftermarket line is that OE can deliver the same silence and smoothness, but without the excessive pad deposits and spongey feel.

Raybestos EHT has become my go to brake pad. Good linear bite unlike some Akebono's that I've used that have too aggressive of an initial bite. Plus they are less expensive than Akebono's. I haven't used them long enough to know how they affect rotor wear but I usually change rotors every second set of pads anyway.

Too aggressive? Which AKs are these? I think I'll go with the EHTs you like.

I've been using/tried the Raybestos EHTs on a few vehicles now too, and like them. Only issue I have had was they were a tiny bit squeaky on my Jeep TJ I had at times, but stopped nice in all conditions on all the vehicles I've tried them on.
I even have a set sitting here beside me waiting to go on my 2014 300 as the ones on it are quite loud and squeaky...

Well, I guess I'll limit my typing. Y'all know my feeling on this matter. HA!

I recently installed Hawk HPS 5.0 on my 550i. They're claimed to be a high performance street pad.....so far, so good. They made a bunch of noise when first installed, but have quieted down after bedding in. Low dust, rotor friendly.

I'm using Raybestos EHT on my '07 Pacifica and love them.

I initially bought Akebono ProACT but returned them when I discovered they had a friction rating of "FF". Ordinarily that wouldn't bother me, but the old pads were "GG" rated and I did not want to potentially take a step backward. I was quite pleased with the "GG" pads that were on the car in terms of performance and brake feel. The Raybestos were a great match to the pads they replaced-- good feel, confident stopping power and low dust.

I’m an akebono guy. What’s the Oe pad material? I tend to use a semi metallic on a heavier vehicle.. ceramic tend to be a bit soft for my liking.

EBC are good pads from my experience but lately some people are complaining about cracking of the pad material, how accurate this is I have no idea. They do make a lot of dust though and that may be a trade off the OP is unwilling to accept.

I currently run your Yellowstuff on my Golf, they are excellent pads for both daily street use and light track. My feeling was if I'm going to have dust may as well have better pads! My concern with the reds is simply that they are marketed as being low dust but not really that way based on my experience and many others in the VW online world. They worked fine for daily street pads.

I put the EBC Ultimax2 GG pads (and rotors) on my Patriot last September to replace OEM ceramic Akebono FF pads (different than aftermarket Akebono).

I don't notice dusting to be a problem - no better, no worse. I also don't notice these pads braking any better than the OEMs. My brakes have always been just a bit soft and not "grabby" feeling at all (especially compared to my son's Soul). The EBC's brake very similar to the OEM's - certainly good enough but no great improvement in feel. I guess YMMV applies? Maybe the OP just needs to adjust to the feel of his new vehicle.

One of the few pads that will actually make a difference will dust like crazy. Don't pay attention to anyone that says to install Raybestos Element 3 EHT on it.
EBC Ultimax2 pads are the ones you want but the trade off is the dust they will make.
Brake pads are kinda like tires in which you cant have the best of everything in every category.
