It finally warmed up enough to get my Diamondback cover installed and I like it. I am approaching 11,000 miles and so far so good. Please excuse my dirty truck.
Good observations skills.
I think that trend started somewhere 10 years ago with the second gen. of Scion tC. It's a black foil wrap. My Scion tC has it too. It's a pretty robust since it survived an impact with a toll boot barrier. https://www.autoweek.com/drives/a1891766/2014-scion-tc-review-notes/
It's doing well. The Tundra now has 15,000 miles and has not had any issues and just regular maintenance so far. I did the 5 and 15 thousand mile oil changes and let the dealer do the free 10,000 mile change.
I don't have many complaints but I still don't like the center console design. I have only done a little light towing with it although my wife and I are considering the purchase of a small camper. I still love the truck and I have it scheduled for its annual fluid film application in two weeks.
