Bought a new Tundra

Nice!

I just watched an oil change video on a new Tundra the other day. Not the easiest, but not horrible. Sounds like you don't do them yourself, so it's a non issue for you.

How many of those boulders in the photo background were you able to get in the bed? In addition to that wooden pallet………😎

That color is a natural for quality detailing!

Noticed the exhaust exit is on the driver side, as well as the fuel filler door - is this normal for Toyotas? On my Chevys, the exhaust is on the passenger side, gas tank on the driver side....

Latest generation of Tundra and Tacoma have driver side exhaust exit. Previous gens were passenger side.

They did a great job w/the styling on the new Tundra's. Really caught my eye the first time I noticed them the other day. With your previous experience it was expected to choose another Toyota. Hope you get just as many miles out of this one.

I know on the new Tacoma's they moved the tank to the passenger side to combat the "Tacoma lean" that the 2nd and 3rd gens had. This might be something similar?

I definitely do my own oil changes but with two years free service, I'm going to let the dealer do the scheduled 10,000 mile change after I do it at 5000. I'm thinking about sending a sample from the 5000 mile change to Blackstone too.

I just joined the Tundras forum and there is obviously a lot of chatter there about the bearing failures. They are sending oils sample to be tested as well and the comments from Blackstone mention that high silver readings could mean bearing wear or solder from the oil cooler. The tests from Speed Diagnostic don't even check for silver and one member sent an email to Speed to ask about that and they replied that there is no silver in the bearings so no need to test for it.

I know that Toyota made changes to production of the engine earlier this year and even the early ones failed at a rate of less than 1%. I test drove a blue Tundra and they unloaded the one I ended up buying as I was at the dealer. I wanted the late build date.
