Bought a new Tundra

Changing the oil at 1,000 miles isn't going to help the bearing issue. If there is debris in there, the motor will grenade sooner or later. If there isn't-it won't.
If and that’s a big if, there is a debris issue, I would dump the oil the moment I got the truck home.
Obviously that’s a more optimal state than letting them stir in there for 10k miles.

But he's not just a youTuber. It depends on how much trust you have in the presenter. Same as taking advice from this Forum.
Oh but he is just another YouTuber. Your view of him shows how powerful an influencer can be.

He works for Toyota and has vested interest in promoting the brand. We don’t know what sort of back door deal he got with this Tundra to sway the view of his followers.

Maybe he got no deal at all, but being a Toyota employee he has all the insight into the inner workings. He will likely get preferential treatment as well in case of trouble. So his risk is minimal and not the same as an average customer.

Plus, if he has any trouble with it, guess what he’s going to do first? Make a video about it and further promote his channel. He can actually monetize a failure of his Tundra, can you?

I don't see it that way. But we're all entitled to our opinions on things like this. Conversely, i can see your views being true as well.

I’m m not saying the Car Care Nut’s views and opinions aren’t valid. He does have some good videos. It was actually one of his videos about Toyota’s CVTs that I started looking more deeply into the CH-R model. Few more sources confirmed that’s it’s a pretty good model so I bought it.

But blindly saying “Car Care Nut bought a Tundra, that’s good enough for me” is quite a different case IMO.

If the Car Care Nut bought one with his own money, that's good enough for me.

Best of luck to you.
He has a fully equipped shop and probably has access to parts at a reduced price. If his engine grenades it’s not nearly as much of a disaster for him as it would be for a regular Joe.

And does anyone actually believe the problem was caused by leftover manufacturing debris? Toyota’s QC process is far too locked down to ever let something like that happen.

I’d rather drive a good product from a crappy brand than a crappy product from a good brand. Every new vehicle is a gamble.
At the end of the day, that “good” product is still from the crappy brand so it’s still made of crappy parts.

None of those crappy parts have failed in seven years, so they must not be too crappy.
Are you talking a singular experience for just yourself? If so, it’s painfully obvious you have no idea about statistics or statistical analysis and you should probably bow out of this conversation posthaste.

My experience is the only one that matters to me. Statistics are meaningless at the individual level.

Can you show me a statistically significant double blind study showing the 2024 Tundra has better longevity and reliability than the 2024 Titan?

I can see we’re done here since you don’t understand basic numbers. Ouch.
So you have numbers to share regarding 2024 vehicles? I would love to see them. Convince me, dude!

You’re a Toyota fan, I get it. But they’ve screwed the pooch with the Tundra. Sad you can’t admit this.

I think I've watched one video of the Car Care Nut. From that video I learned that, like me, he WAS a Toyota Master Tech. Now he has his own independent shop, specializing in Toyota, Lexus, and Scion vehicles. He is not beholden to Toyota.

I’m actually not a Toyota fan. And yeah, the whole machining bits in the engine is a big debacle for them. It’s just that I’ve owned Nissan before and know how crappy of a company they are and that dislike of Nissan combined with how bad of a company they are overrides this QC issue for Toyota. If you really think that making one or two decent products makes Nissan a better overall company than Toyota, I don’t think even Jesus can help you at this point.

Nowhere did I even remotely say I thought Nissan is a better company than Toyota. Feel free to go back and hilight the place where I said that please.

I would 100% take a Camry over an Altima or a RAV4 over whatever Nissan’s small SUV is. That doesn’t impact the quality of the Titan, which has a pretty strong track record in general. Plus, there’s the value equation to consider: I bought my 2017 for barely more than half of what OP paid for his truck and that included a 5/100k warranty I never had to use. The $22k difference would cover a lot of repairs, probably even including swapping out the complete drive train if needed.

It’s a lot more complex than you seem to be making it out to be.
