That looks really good for the age/mileage! Nice price too. Just remember these things need a good "Italian tuneup" every once in awhile.

Cool that you got a MT and 6-er

A slush box in that would be a big snore..

That SOHC 6 has more power than most of the Mustang GT V8 I've owned in my 20's

So you can pretend it's a Maserati !

Looks good.

I this the year that's on a modified Lincoln LS / T-Bird / Jaguar platform?

You stole it! Driving it home for two hours without a single oddity is a good sign. Seriously.

And change the oil in the manual transmission. There is ZERO chance that will harm anything in a manual transmission, assuming you refill it to the proper level and use the recommended FOMOCO fluid.

Scott

PS I've changed the transmission fluid in my wife's 2011 BMW 328i 4 or 5 times (6 speed French-built GM auto, 92K miles on it). Twice I've pulled the pan so I could replace the filter. The other times were a pan on drain and refill. If you believe the things people say on BITOG and some of the BMW forums, the transmission should be junk by now. It's not. It performs like it did the day we bought it. The factory fill/filter change I did at 22k miles.......absolutely shocking! The normally red Dexron VI ATF was dark brown. It looked like 5k old engine oil!

Your experiences do not invalidate mine and others any more than ours invalidate yours, personal confirmation bias aside.

I haven't used it myself, but there have been post here on BITOG that Redline fluids (they call them shock-proof) are very good. If it were mine I would look at using Redline fluids, or fluids from a Ford dealer.

My gf has a red 07 4.0 vert with 235,000 miles. We've been using PP 10W30 in it. It's always had 10W30 oil ever since we got it. The 4.0 is the best V6 Mustang.

Congrats on your beautiful new car!

I agree. Best Mustang body style imo.

Yeah … we had a 2010 premium 4.0L … white with brown leather … Loved the 8" door speakers … such a simple idea that could give other cars a little sound boost over 6" speakers …

OP

Enjoy your new ‘Stang !!!!
My son had an ‘08 with the 4.0L V6
It was a tuff and durable car
We installed a BAMA tune, shorty headers,
Koni shocks, GT rotors, Flowmaster exhaust

For a V6 it was fast and loud !!!!

Have fun !!ðŸ‘

A young guy at autocross had 4.0 done up pretty much the same, it sounded great and never seemed lacking for power out on course. Another guy had a stock one with a very tired 4.0 slushbox convertible and it was pretty weak really. If we get a season in this year I'll have to go for a ride along in the fast 4.0, see if it matches the old 5.0 my buddy runs as they seem to run pretty similar.

That's definitely not true

Oh yeah?

FWIW GM recommends a friction modifier in some of their New Venture manual transmissions. It's possible the notchy shifting issues are caused by that?
