Advance Auto Parts uses Purolator for their store brand filters. There are lots of similarities to the Purolator Premium Plus, but there are a few differences in filters that were cut open. One was that on the Prem. Plus, the ends of the filter media were crimped together with a metal band... on the Advance filter, they were glued.
If this is true about the Duralast filter, it would be interesting to see if the ends of the media on the regular Duralast are crimped or glued...suggesting it might be the same filter as the one sold at Advance (minus the grippy coating).
Problem is, I don't go to AZ... I don't like their parts. Too much stuff comes over the counter stamped "Made in Mexico". No thanks.
