Bolt action .223, best bang for the $ ?

Bought it in 1986. I got it from a buddy at work who needed money fast, it was new and low cost so jumped on it. It's not fun shooting at the range but I tell myself I can down load it for deer hunting...hehe
 
For out of the box accuracy you'll find it a real tough job to beat a Savage. I have a few, I built one into a nice switch barrel rig. With a little know-how, and a good lathe you can work wonders with a Savage. I love'em, I pay a little more and get the stainless steel rifles. They're real easy to headspace w/o having to worry too much about killin yourself.-RD
 
Only thing with Savage rifles are - they are ugly- ha. I have one in 30-06 and as much as I love it- it ain't purdy.

My line of thinking as well. Ruger American is a solid value as well as the Savage with the accu-trigger. Both will serve you well and are affordable.
