Hi everyone.

1st post here on BITOG. I have an ’06 Chevy Silverado Z-71 w/ the 5.3L V-8. I am looking to install the Amsoil BMK-11 bypass filter setup. Amsoil’s instructions say to T off the oil pressure regulator. This is not the easiest thing to access on my truck. I was wondering if anyone know of someone who makes a sandwich adapter that I could use as my high pressure oil source? Also I would like to return the oil to the oil pan via a drain bolt that has a threaded whole drilled in it. Anyone know of a place that I could get one of these? My other alternative for a return would be the oil fill cap.

Thanks for your input!

Just put sandwich adapter in the ebay motors search engine. You'll see plenty of sandwiches that are designed to tap in 1/8" senders for temp and pressure.

Go to preluber.com and look at their "plug charts". They should be able to help you.

I did my 2005 5.3 a little over a year ago. What I did was order the permacool universal sandwich adapter from jegs. Do not get the one that is for gm and chevey. It doesn't have the bypass valve.
Also when you are at it, inorder to get around your driveline, your going to need a couple of 90's and some hose barbs. I went to the local hydralic shop and had some custom hoses made with an6 fittings on both sides. They were 3 ft total lenth. I mounted the filter above the steering column on the firewall for easy changing.

The only hard part was getting the angles right at the sandwich adapter. took some tinkering.

Another way you could do it is plumb off of the cover plate right above your oil filter. You can take that plate off and drill and tap it to 1/8 npt and run that line to your filter and then dump it into the oil fill, or put a hollow bolt in your pan. But with the oil pan being aluminum, you need to drill and tap the pan.

Let me know if you want pictures.

I put a Motor Guard on a 6.0 engine in a new Silverado using a Flex-a-lite sandwich adapter listed for that engine. It was a tight fit because the front universal joint was right there. I use two port sandwich adapters when I can. The Perma-cool universal adapter will work but it takes a filter with the bypass valve in the filter such as a Ford 3/4"-16 threads. You don't need a restrictor orifice when using a two port sandwich adapter because you are not taking oil off the system. Not sure about using the Amsoil filter with a sandwich adapter.

Yes, the problem you run into is that your typical 90° EL can't be threaded/tightened due to hitting the other fitting. You usually have to stagger them with nipples.

I see you found a solution. I think the square type would work as well.
