Co worker that is usually broke i.e. never has much money for gas let alone anything else picked this 93' Tempo. I found it for him at local Good Wheels auto place near me. $300 and i found him some good, new tires for $65/each. I will be changing the oil for him this weekend with some Formula shell 10w30 and a parts plus 253 filter

I had one just like it. Drove the crap out of it and it just wouldn't die. Hit a deer which totaled it but it was a great car.

Brings back nightmares of the cheating girlfriend I had. She had a red one and was always complaining about something wrong with it. Thankfully the trans mission failed soon after we broke up.

I saw this Tercel (not this exact one) twice yesterday, on my way to and from work.

Don't hate me, my grandmother had a blue one very similar and I just love these wagons for some reason.

LOL!

I drove the same color and year to Canada with some buddies
Was a new rental. lost most power when we drove it 13 hours straight.
Had to unload it there and get a new ride. Nothing wrong with that ride but it brought back fond memories

Ex GF had one in the early 2000s -- car was junk from day one -- money pit. She sold it for 200 bucks & bought a 1996 Chevy Blazer 4.3L that ran like a champ.

Jeepers , a 25 yr old Tempo. That is likely the last survivor. Some things are better off extinct. Keep it in fluids, how are brakelines? Don't wanna be a buzzkill, but this car is likely to be a can of worms. You can probably keep it going for short money and loads of free labor. The Rat is a prime example. I could have saved myself thousands of $ and hundreds of hours had I just taken a 300$ hit and driven it straight to the JY. Except that I've got a foolish liking for it

Actually its rust free underneath. Originally from KY and spent the first 109k there. Co worker is going to use bottle of Nu Finish wax on it to see if it helps sun burned/faded paint :^)

Lots of noise(96 cu.in.OHV 4) and not much else. The four-wheel drive version had a 6th gear that was a stump puller.Rowed one up and down Colorado passes for twelve years. Lots of noise.

One of my son's friends had a V6 Tempo, ran well and chirped the tires on the 1-2 shift

The more coats he applies the better the paint will look after each application. Esp after three coats or so the paint should pop a little bit.

The wife had a 1991,was totaled in a hail storm, bought it back from State Farm for $1200,ran it for 3 more years. On the day i traded in for a new Focus the transmission gave out a mile from the dealer, wife pushed me from behind to the dealer who came out to help push the car up the hill into his lot.Loved the car, easy to work on and fun to drive, great memories .Sister in law currently has a 1992 tempo with 26k witch i help her manage even thought we live 1100 miles away!

Why is he always broke?! Honestly.. I had a 4 door one for awhile, it got T boned. Pretty bad driving experience all around.. as in mediocrity but it got me where i needed to go and wayyy better than taking the bus! Should give him good service.. 300$.. cant complain AT ALL!

An old friend from high school had one of these. I always liked the headlight switch dial thing.

He once found a dude sleeping in it one morning. Living in a small Indiana town, this is a very odd thing to experience.

He has a dead rear end of a girlfriend or whoever she "is"

He means well and is disabled but hard worker and takes mechanical advice and learns.

Friend's wife had one of those (actually, a Topaz)...it was just...bland. My biggest complaints (aside from the stupid motorized seat belts) were the undersized brakes (same as the Escort), and the 3-speed slushbox turning it into a gas hog! With the OHV 4-cylinder and that automatic, it was very slow. But hers was reliable...just bland.

I will say that front end might be the easiest I have ever seen to service.
