Blackstone results-comfort level?

OOPPS...I'm sorry ZZman...I had 3 BITOG pages open and I accidentally posted in the wrong thread! The thread I meant to post in is called "Blackstone Oil Sample Pump," at the link below. I'll email the moderator and ask this be removed.

But to answer your question, it was obviously unintentional, but I believe the comments were inaccurate. I'll look for it and post if interested.

Blackstone: "The oil never touches the pump, so you don't need to clean it in between uses."

Oil Analyzers: "Thoroughly clean the pump, probe needle and mini-gauge plug surface after each use."

I don't know anything about the oil analyzers pump but I can confirm that for the blackstone pump the oil never touches the pump (except for the o ring sometimes which doesn't effect the sample). You simply throw away the plastic tubing and put on a new piece of tubing for the next sample. No cleaning, works perfect, no contamination, definitely worth the $ IMO. Napa also sells virtually the same pump for more $ by special order.

Perfect, saaber1, thank you...As you may have read, I posted this question in the wrong thread, but you gave me a response I was looking for...I'll assume the Blackstone is the better of the two since the Amsoil pump apparently needs cleaning. Thanks again.

By the way, when using the front view, the Napa pump (link below) looks identical to the Oil Analyzers (Amsoil) pump down to the probe needle, pump fitting and color. I'm betting it's the same maker & probably needs cleaning too...On the other hand, the Blackstone pump does look different from the other two and as you confirmed, doesn't need cleaning.

Interesting, I've never seen that NAPA pump in person and from bottom it looks same as blackstone just different colors. Actually from the top it looks real similar to blackstone's also. My guess is that the NAPA one doesn't need cleaning either just by looking at it, but I/ve never used the NAPA or oil analyzers pumps. Maybe they just left that feature off of their marketing info?

Hmm...I could be wrong, but they look different to me where the metal pump connects to the plastic fitting. The Napa/Oil analyzers pump has a red plastic fitting that appears to be square shaped where the metal pump fits inside of it. The yellow Blackstone fitting looks rounded off where the pump and fitting meet externally. I stand corrected though if they're the same :) I suppose if anyone's interested, a call to Napa could verify if it needs cleaning or not. But you sold me on the Blackstone...It's cheaper and I don't mind waiting for it it in the mail :)
