Black wheels trend

Personally I like silver painted wheels, Like the classic Ronal.

I admit when I first put on my black steel rims on my truck I didn't like them but I felt the truck was in good enough shape that it needed something better than the rusted steel wheels that were on there and I didn't want to spend a ton of money on them. Then I seen a truck with black rims with some silver/chrome around the outside and thought that looks much better so I added some trim rings and like it much better now. Plus these are super easy to clean.

Black wheels are not that cool IMO, and look like Plasti dipped wheels that anyone can easily do for $20. I love Plasti Dip though for painting lots of different things though, and can make a junk aluminum wheel look better. It would be a great way to protect a nice wheel during the winter, then peel it off in the spring.

Man, I'm really diggin those tall sidewalls and narrow tread!
They probably soak up potholes and coarse pavement noise with ease.

If the car came with darker wheels, I really can't comment because that's how it was new. The new Wranglers and Tacomas look pretty good with the darker wheels. I am not sure why, but I am also a fan of the black Silverados with the black rims and Goodyear Duratracs. (No idea what that package entails or what it costs, but it could very well be cheaper to buy the rims, tires and black logo after the fact.

I do feel if it was added, it can either look very good or very distasteful. Peeling plasti-dip looks bad IMO.

Those wheels are absolutely perfect for that truck.

All black painted wheels look terrible, but thats the fad many car manufacturers are following.

I drove by a Chevy dealership and most Corvettes had black wheels. Chrome looks also looks bad, polished aluminum looks great.

Black wheels look great on certain cars. One day my Jeep will have black wheels when it gets lifted and gets bigger tires.

Black wheels look good on certain vehicles. I like the older look on older cars. Black wheels look better then 24s or any other color painted wheels.

IMO grey aluminum has been the "upgrade" for 30 years so it's time for a new "fresh look" even if it's stupid.

I like the dull spokes/ machined outside look but that will oversaturate the market as well.

I don't have a problem with black wheels in general, it's how it's done. As with any trend, there will be half [censored] versions of it.

A lot of OE black wheels and even some aftermarket black wheels look perfectly fine.

Cheapo wheels look bad regardless of color/finish, and spray painting factory wheels black usually turns out bad.

I think it's funny when there is a car or truck for sale on CL with factory wheels rattle canned black, and it's advertised as having "custom rims."

Ya that truck looks awesome. I would drive it as is with no changes. One of the best looking trucks of that era.

I personally don't like chrome at all. I think it cheapens the look of a car for the most part, especially newer cars. The only chrome on my car are the Borla exhaust tips, the 5.0 badges and the little rings on the wheel center caps.

Is it sterling grey with sterling grey wheels?

I've seen matte black 5.0 badges but I can't remember it they were FRPP.

My gloss black wheel are at the powder coater right now getting a color change. I am to OCD to deal with the brake dust and dirt that collects on a black wheel with in minuets of driving the car. My wheels didn't look bad but not great either.

99% of black wheels out there I cant stand because they just look like a round blob of black and half the time you can hardly make out what the spokes look like.

The car is Sterling Grey Metallic and the catalog calls the wheels "Painted Luster Nickle" which must be expensive since the set of 4 black Track Pack wheels is the same price as one factory wheel.

I have seen the black badges in the aftermarket. If it was a black chrome like the front pony emblem I might consider it, but I like the factory ones. Well in my car's case they are both replacement ones, but you get the idea.

I don't care for them either but there functional and help keep the salt off the body as well as loose gravel in the winter.

Thanks all for the complements!

I'm going with a set of OEMs and I'll have them chromed...as far as I can tell, GM didn't offer these in chrome, only silver and polished...

I love my black wheels. This 2010 Accord is going into the shop next week to get the windows tinted. That should tie it all together.

I got rid of my 16" steelies with wheel covers (they were peeling and looked horrible) and these are 18" from a 2013 Accord Sport that were powder coated a matte black.

I'm not a fan of all black vehicles...or "murdered out". But I think with the right vehicle color, black wheels can look pretty sharp.
