After repairing s transaxle seal in. 1969 vow bug in 1989, I filled the transmission with regular 10w30 motor oil. ..ok I barely put any in it, it was whatever I had left ion hand.

I drove that car through his graduation I 1990 and went off to the marine corps. For the 4 years that I was away my dad drove the bug back and forth to work 30 mile round trip 5 days a week.

The bugg was parked due to electricsl issues and parted out . In1995. The transmission never had a problem.

The truck looked this good and clean when I sold it at 200,000 miles. I have no mechanical ability or tools, so something like an engine rebuild would cost me $3,000 in parts and labor (or more!). I got the truck with about 165,000 on it, and the 3.4 V6 engine had good power but worrisome noise and oil burning from the first day I got it. It was going to need a clutch and some front suspension work, so I sold it at a reduced price.

A maroon one like this popped up on CL about 3 weeks ago for $1500 with around 180k on the OD. Manual gearbox, 4x4.. About a week of being posted, his asking price rose to $2500. Would have been a nice second vehicle.

Would have been a great kayak/ bike hauler.
