big trouble...

I will argue Chrysler's reliability and service. I had a 2001 Ram 1500 truck and it was very good. Only problem I had to pay for was a balljoint and front end alignment ($350). A family member still has it, w/o any problems at all. That's a 9 year old truck with only one non-maintenance repair. I think that's pretty good.

Toyota has the stink of death on them at the time being, what with the major rental companies completely stopping all orders of anything Toyota due to their runaway issues.

Chrysler is going to survive. FIAT has been around forever, and their cars are ususlly first or second place in sales within Europe; their competition is VW.

When fuel goes astronomically high again (and we all know it will, it's just a matter of time), the 500 will be seen on roads everywhere. Chrysler can use FIAT's expertise in engineering and fuel economy cars to boost their sales. Will Alfa Romeo come back to and be sold at Chrysler dealership's? Anyone know? I'd love to see a beautiful Alfa again being sold here.

Dodge will stay online with their RAM's that have the nice looks and nice car ride with the new independent rear suspension, not to mention the Cummins powerplants. Does Toyota make any kind fo a serious 1/2, 3/4 or 1 ton truck? Nice try, but the Tundra's parallelogramming beds and rust issues have done it for a lot of people.

Japan Inc. is still alive and well. Count on Toyota surviving. However, they will just be one more in the pack. They no longer walk on water.

I belvieve they ae keeping the world engines but with the Fiat Multi Air technology which increase HP/TQ and Fuel economy by about 10%. Also I think Fiat has a dual dry clutch auto which will eventually be used but from Allpar it sounds like they will be using the 6 spd autos and phase out the 4 spds.

At the end of this year I would think you will see a lot of revamped products and the new WK2 and Durango, Charger and 300 plus revamped Avenger/Sebring with the Pentstar V6 and 6 spd autos. At least that is what Allpar states

I'm actually very happy with the 2.4 L World Engine that's in the Jeep Compass/Patriot and Caliber. I guess only time will tell but it's been completely trouble free for me.

I was going to make a similar comment, but figured I'd already said enough ;-) Fiat 4-bangers seem like a step backward even from the old (early 90s) Chrysler 2.0/2.4 series, let alone the current World Engine.
